Little Bug Jed fell asleep in the bed
while all curled up by a boy named Ned
When morning came, little bug Jed
woke up to find Ned’s turtle named Fred
hungrily chomping on another bug’s head.
In fright he jumped from the bed beside Ned
before being snatched and eaten by Fred.

Bug notes; There are times when the spirit moves me and inspiration comes in different ways, and I will move from a serious post or piece or even a serious story to one with a humorous or light approach to brighten the day and I want to feel the fantasy take me beyond the mundane realities in this world. Thus, in the recent months or past I have posted a poem or story to go with a funny or crazy little image to lighten the mood. Hope you enjoy the little poems or stories along the way to my ‘Fantasy Land’, a place I loved and enjoyed at Disneyland and Disneyworld.

A Frog Named Slime
A frog named Slime covered in grime
Jumped in a pond to scrub himself clean,
scrubbed so hard he washed off the green
“Look at me now! I can’t be seen,
looking too clean like a shriveled green bean.“
“‘I look all shiny with all that sheen.
and won’t look like a frog if I’m not all green.”‘
So away he hopped to his puddle of grime
and happy was he the frog named Slime.

If I could catch a sunbeam
I’d keep it in a jar
and save it for the times
when cloudy skies or rain would fall
and threaten to spoil my plans that day.
I’d open up the jar
and watch my sunbeam spread its warmth,
its golden rays and magical waves sweep across the sky
and everyone would wonder,
“From where did the sunshine come”?
I would then reply, “It’s just a bit of magic
I kept in a jar.” 🙂

There climbed a squirrel on a tree
“Little squirrel, will you pose for me?”
He said, “I’m busy. Can you hurry?”
I took his picture, and off he did scurry.
He had much to do, and I things to see.

We were able to capture this squirrel while on a hike at the Grand Canyon, North Rim on a recent vacation. This little guy was not in the least afraid of those on the path, and in fact looked as if he enjoyed having his picture taken. We think he was chewing off the bark to build a nest, but continued on with his ‘busy’ work, so I decided to try a fun limerick poem for the photo.
